    Andongjip, Seoul

A Cozy Local Restaurant for Korean Braised Fish

    (Visited by BTS J-Hope)

Hi, this is your Korean Buddy 😊
Today, I want to introduce a very local, very Korean restaurant in Seoul that feels special even before the food arrives.

If you’re traveling in Seoul and want to try real Korean seafood, this place is a great start.

    What is Byeongeo?

Byeongeo is a seasonal Korean fish, best enjoyed from late summer to autumn.
It’s soft, mild, and perfect for braising with Korean-style sauce.

Koreans love eating food that follows the seasons, and Byeongeo Jorim (braised fish) is one of those dishes that feels warm and comforting.

    A Local Spot in Euljiro

Andongjip is located near Chungmuro and Euljiro, inside a traditional market alley.
The area feels calm and local, especially in the evening.

This restaurant has been featured on several Korean TV programs, and it’s also known among fans because BTS J-Hope once visited here.
If you’re a K-pop fan, that alone makes the visit more fun.

Inside, the space is small and cozy, with only a few tables.
It feels like a place locals have loved for a long time.

    What We Ate

The menu focuses on seafood, especially braised and grilled dishes.

We ordered Byeongeo Jorim (braised fish).
In Korea, braised dishes get better as they simmer longer, and this one was no exception.

As the sauce slowly thickened, the flavor became deeper and richer.
It paired perfectly with rice, and honestly, it was hard to stop eating.

This is the kind of meal that makes you understand why Koreans say
“rice disappears quickly” at a good restaurant.

    Byeongeo Jorim (Braised Silver Pomfret)

    Market price

A seasonal Korean fish gently braised in a savory soy-based sauce.
Soft texture, rich flavor, and perfect with rice.
A very traditional Korean comfort dish.

    Galchi Jorim (Braised Hairtail Fish)

    25,000 KRW

One of Korea’s most loved braised fish dishes.
The sauce is slightly spicy and deeply flavorful, soaking into the fish and vegetables.
Highly recommended if you enjoy Korean home-style food.

    Nakji Bokkeum (Spicy Stir-Fried Octopus)

    27,000 KRW

Tender octopus stir-fried with vegetables in a bold Korean chili sauce.
Chewy, spicy, and full of energy — Koreans love this with rice or drinks.

    Why I Recommend This Place

    • Authentic Korean seafood
    • A calm, local atmosphere
    • A dish that represents Korean seasonal food culture
    • A fun K-pop connection without feeling touristy

If you want to experience how locals actually eat in Seoul, Andongjip is a lovely choice.

Travel is about enjoying moments like this—good food, warm atmosphere, and stories you’ll remember later.

Travel Tip from Your Korean Buddy

If you visit with friends, you can try more dishes and share them Korean-style.
Food always tastes better when shared.
